How to Spell Ridiculous

ri‧dic‧u‧lous [ri-dik-yuh-luh s] adj.

absurd; outrageous; inviting or worthy of ridicule;  Some people have ridiculous spelling.

R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S.  Not so hard, is it?  Then why do so many people spell it rediculous?  Subtle, maybe even unconscious, communist sympathies?  Or are they just plain idiots?

The fact is:  every day thousands of people misspell the word ridiculous on message boards, forums, blogs, chats, email and anywhere else on the web that people happen to find themselves with a blinking cursor and a desire to use a word meaning "that situation is absurd!".  The goal of how-to-spell-ridiculous.com is to reverse that trend as much as we possibly can.  Yes, to correct a common misspelling of one word: ridiculous.

How can we accomplish this goal?  By being SpellNazis.  When you see someone on a forum or message board misspell ridiculous, reply with a link to http://how-to-spell-ridiculous.com.  This will help in two ways:

  1. It will let the ridiculous speller know the correct way to spell the word ridiculous.  In the future, they will not make the same mistake.

  2. It will help spread the word about how-to-spell-ridiculous.com, so that others can learn to be SpellNazis, and in turn, correct the spelling of others and help spread the word some more.
